FAQ

How do I connect my controller to my console/pc?

Plug in your controller to your PS5 console/pc via c cable. Press the home button and you should see the controller flash blue around the touchpad. If it does not work simply unplug it and retry the same process. If the controller needs to install updates to the software it will do so at this point. After that, you should be good to start using it!

Is this compatible with Xbox or PS4?

Natively no. You will need to buy an adaptor to play with a PS5 controller on Xbox or PS4.

How do I remap the buttons/paddles?

The remapping process is the same for 8 buttons, 4 paddles, and 2 paddles. All of those options come with a remappable chip so you can change the button actions.

Remapping is achieved by pressing L1, R1, Right on the D-Pad, and Square at the same time. You will see the mute button flash white a few times if done correctly. Simultaneously press one remappable button/paddle as well as a valid primary button on the controller to map them together.

The unbinding process is similar. Enter remapping mode by pressing L1, R1, Right on the D-Pad, and Square at the same time. Simply press and hold down on the extra button/paddle you want unbound and it will reset. Remapping mode will be exited automatically after a few seconds.

IMPORTANT: Remappable buttons include (Up, Down, Left, Right, X, O, Triangle, and Square). L3 and R3 are not able to be remapped to directly. If you wish to achieve this simply edit the button binds in game for L3 or R3 to a different button that is able to be remapped.

Do not remap your GGG controller while in a game. Certain games prevent remapping functionality due to their software. Remapping should be done from the main menu of your console.

How do I switch out the button caps?

Check out the video above! The button caps are secured tightly on the 8 button remappable attachment. Sometimes you have to pull them off with some extra force. If you are having trouble removing the button caps try gripping them with cloth and pinch them off like in the video using your thumb and index finger.

What are hall effect joysticks?

Standard joysticks use potentiometers to read the input location through the X and Y axes. Over time these potentiometers wear down from dirt, damage, and friction. This causes controllers to experience stick drift. If you've ever had your hands off of the joysticks but they still move across your screen that is stick drift. Hall effect joysticks use magnetic signals to track the joystick location. Hall effect joysticks are essential for the longevity of a controller's functionality. Not all hall effect joysticks are the same though. Bluntly speaking, our hall effect joysticks are the best on the market today. We calibrate each joystick to its lowest possible margin of error so you never have to worry about stick drift again.

If for whatever reason you ever experience stick drift with your hall effect joysticks reach out to us at support@getagripgaming.com. We will walk you through the process of recentering the X and Y axes so you can get back to gaming.

What are tactile bumpers and triggers?

When you hear the word "tactile" think of the feeling and sound a computer mouse makes when you click it. Standard controllers have mushy-like activations which are also slow. Tactile bumpers and triggers allow you to have that rewarding mouse-like click along with a faster activation compared to standard bumpers and triggers. For anyone playing FPS games this is a must have feature.

What about adaptive triggers?

If tactile bumpers/triggers are selected, we remove the adaptive trigger functionality. Tactile bumpers/triggers are perfect for FPS games. Adaptive triggers are mainly used for immersive games like Astro’s Playroom. This will give you feedback when pulling down on the trigger. If you select our fast-action tactile bumpers/triggers then adaptive trigger functionality is not needed. Think about what games you play and if you need the adaptive triggers or not!

What about haptic feedback?

If tactile bumpers/triggers are selected, we remove the haptic feedback functionality. Tactile bumpers/triggers are perfect for FPS games. Haptic feedback causes a vibration of the controller. If you are serious about your FPS gameplay, haptic feedback should be turned off in settings. To save you the trouble, we removed the haptic feedback functionality entirely. However, if you want haptic feedback functionality let us know when you order!

What are tactile face buttons?

Similar to tactile bumpers and triggers, tactile face buttons replace the normal squishy feeling button press with a mouse-like click. This button activation doesn't just feel crisp and rewarding but it is fast as well!

What shape are the remappable buttons?

Each controller comes with 16 button caps- 8 domed and 8 concave. Feel free to mix and match based on your finger's specific preferences! Most people like the concave button caps for the 6 rear buttons and the domed button caps for the top 2 buttons. However, to each their own.

Will the remappable buttons/paddles fit my hand size?

We designed our remappable controllers to be a one-size-fits-all. The 8 remappable buttons were designed to be pressed by either the fingertips or the joints nearest the fingertips. Try holding and pressing the controller to see what method works best for you! Give yourself at least a week to get comfortable using your new Get a Grip Gaming controller. If you still don't like how the controller feels check our return policy and see if you can send it back to us.

What if my triggers feel hard to press?

Sometimes during shipping they are rough with the controller. If you feel like one of your triggers (L2/R2) are difficult to press or don't activate correctly try pressing them down hard a few times. This will hopefully, adjust the insert on the inside back into it's correct place.

What if my 8 remappable buttons don't feel right?

If your 8 remappable buttons don't feel right try spinning them around to see if that fixes your issue! You can also try re-installing the button cap to see if that helps.

How do I know which BDM version my PS5 controller is?

There are a few methods to determine which version of the PS5 controller you have. The most reliable method is inspecting the back of your controller. Several strings of text/numbers will be listed on the back of the controller. Identify where it says "MADE IN CHINA". To the left of that phrase, there will be a long string such as "F54601K0H105622940". The only important number in this whole string is after the first letter. In this instance, we can see that this controller is version BDM-050.

If you do not have a stock back shell anymore, then you can identify the BDM version by looking at the triggers. There are several helpful images online that showcase this. The front side of the motherboard also displays the BDM version in gold lettering near the top left portion.
